My favorite facial feature is my lips. I got ’em from my mama and they’re fuller than most. Which is a great thing – except they lean toward dry, sensitive and have a tendency to crack and bleed, especially in the winter. And when they get like that, they quickly become the most noticeable feature on my face – and not for the reasons I want.
As such, I’ve gone through more lip balms than toilet paper (okay, no, that’d be sort of gross if true) and by now, nurture a deep, wild, holy appreciation for lip balms that can nourish and heal. Of course, if they smell delish – that’s a big bonus as well.
Over the past few years, I’ve made the complete switch to all natural lip balms (we eat this stuff, ya know?) – even whipping up some DIY natural lip balms for myself – and noticed that the best natural lip balms are preventative as well as healing – as in, I find myself needing much less applications throughout the day.
So to share the well moisturized lip love, I’ve finally compiled a little list of reviews. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect natural lip balm – well, you know what to do!
On a Quest for the Perfect Natural Lip Balm? My Top 3 Picks
1. Hurrah for HURRAW!
My all-time favorite natural lip balm is Chai Spice from HURRAW! This stuff is seriously delicious, like addictively so. But if you’re not a Chai person – that’s cool, they’ve got tons of yummy flavors. Like Earl Gray. And Root Beer will make you want to party. And mmmm, Vanilla Bean. If you – like me – are prone to dry, cracked lips, their Moon Lip Treatment is a must-have during the winter months.
HURRAW’s affordably-priced natural lip balms are super moisturizing (the Green Tea and Moon Treatment have extra, extra moist power), come in the cutest designs, aren’t overpoweringly scented, have incredibly staying power, are made using awesomely beneficial organic, cold-pressed oils like argan, rosehip and avocado, and they don’t melt in your pocket – even in the summer months.
They’re also obviously all-natural, raw, vegan, and gluten free. So feel free to lick that stuff off your lips if you want 🙂
Price: Get each of ’em for $5

2. Wear Dessert on Your Lips with Ganache for Lips
Love rich, sensuous chocolate flavors? Put Ganache for Lips on your lips. Their range of natural lip balms are quite possibly the best thing to ever happen to green-beauty-lovin’ dessert addicts.
Here’s a taste: Chocolate Mousse, Mocha Latte, Chocolate Mint, Chocolate Hazelnut, Vanilla Mousse, Lemon Mousse, Chocolate Marzipan! Fun fact: they’re the only lip balm that uses actual Scharffen Berger chocolate.
Wearing Ganache for Lips feels a little naughty, like you’re sneaking around a bit of dessert on your lips all day. It’s a gorgeous feeling to be smelling lemon mousse all day – without the calories 🙂
Their lip balms are also super moisturizing without much shininess or heaviness – probably ’cause they’re not too heavy on the beeswax and use several, ‘lighter’ oils like sweet almond and apricot kernel oil. And of course, the whole range of lip balms are all natural.
Price: Get ’em for $4 each or a 4-pack for $15
Ingredients (for Chocolate Mousse): Sweet Almond (Prunus dulcis) Oil, Apricot Kernel (Prunus armeniaca) Oil, Beeswax, Shea Butter (Butyrosperum parkii), Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia) Extract in fractionated Coconut (Cocos nucifers) Oil, Unsweetened Scharffen Berger Chocolate (Theobroma cacao), Vitamin E (Tocopherol), Cocoa (Theobroma cacao) Extract, Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) Extract
3. Be Fierce by Tata Harper
Okay, this one is a splurge lip balm but it is a damn sexy lip balm (well, as sexy as a lip balm could be). Seriously, it’s super lux-gorgeous looking and smelling. It feels like a mini makeover whenever I smear it on (even though it’s got no color).
And it’s more than a pretty face – Be Fierce is super hydrating in a way that lasts and lasts. I can apply a bit before I go to bed at night and my lips are still moist in the morning – yes, in the winter months. Without a humidifier on. That’s some effective lip balm right there.
It’s a price-y lip balm, but it’ll last you. Extra perk? It’s got the loveliest, silkiest texture that makes it perfect to layer with lipsticks.
Oh, and of course it’s all natural, made with organic ingredients, free of artificial fragrances, synthetics, filler, and gluten. And no animal testing for this baby.

RMS Lip & Skin Balm: This one is price-y but so worth it if you’ve got seriously chapped lips. I’ve also got a patch of psoriasis on my right nostril (weird, I know) that tends to flake in dry, cold months and this balm has been great for that. So it’s like a super-uber-lip-skin-moisturizer. Love it.

This USDA Certified Organic all-natural lip balm is scentless, tasteless and very simply formulated – just 5 ingredients. It’s perfect for men as well as anyone who’s allergic to nuts (most lip balms have sweet almond oil in ’em, which you might get unnecessary itchiness from).
-
EOS Lip Balm Pods: Super cute and easy to store everywhere, these little ‘pods’ are full of 100% natural, 95% organic, paraben- and petrolatum-free lip balms in very yummy, very fruity flavors. Get a 5-pack for $16!
